The Regional Council of Berat, in the framework of the SUSTOURISMO project – part of the Adriatic-Ionian (ADRION) 2014-2020 cross-border cooperation program, co-financed by the European Union – held on Thursday, October 29, a round table with experts in the field of tourism and sustainable transport.
Project Manager Evis Plaku highlighted the importance of this meeting as an important step in engaging actors and stakeholders in promoting and developing sustainable tourism in Berat. The round-table focused on the presentation of the SUSTOURISMO project, objectives, goals and activities envisaged in it; addressing the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic in tourism development; as well as a discussion on the technical and political aspects to be taken into account during project implementation.
Part of the round table were representatives of public institutions such as: Prefecture of Berat Region, Directorate of Tourism in the Municipality of Berat and Regional Directorate of National Culture; representatives of tourism development associations, tour guides, agribusinesses and artisan center.
One of the main objectives of the meeting was the discussion with stakeholders of integrated tourism packages in the region of Berat, the involvement of the community, associations in support of tourism and other public and private actors, as well as the presentation of the mobile application SUSTURISMO which aims to provide an interactive interface in which tourists can not only get information on all tourist destinations, but also interact to promote and promote the development of tourism and sustainable transport through walking or cycling.
